12: “Come What May and Love it”
Angela: We had a plan this week of activities we were going to do for a few days as a family. Long story short, not everything went as we planned (nothing bad, just circumstances didn’t shake out like we thought). There were at least three things (maybe more) that didn’t work out like we thought. We adjusted, and I’m so glad we did because we had some new and wonderful experiences as a family. Instead of staying in the initial disappointment, we leaned into the shifting of plans and loved it. We went to Temple Square three days in a row, instead of our originally planned one, we went to Hogle Zoo, and so much more. I shared with Brian how I felt like this was a reminder for us with how Heavenly Father sometimes works. He wants us to plan, He wants us to thoughtfully prepare, and there are times that we may not always see His ways, and when things don’t go according to our plan, we can turn our hearts to Him, and His way ends up being so much better. It reminded me of a General Conference talk by Elder Wirthlin, “Come What May, and Love it!” In this talk, he also shared, “The simple secret is this: put your trust in the Lord, do your best, then leave the rest to Him.” Beautiful, simple truths that bring me joy and peace.
